What is photography?
Photography for me is about capturing a moment in time that as soon as the camera shutter clicks, is part of history and can never be repeated. A smile, a laugh, a surprise, a person's natural feelings in that moment that can never be caught again.
I would describe my photography style as modern, contemporary and natural, preferring reportage shots over formal posed compositions. I love photographing weddings, I think my style suits it, I find the idea of capturing shots of people when they are unaware there is a camera pointing at them fascinating . . . . . . it is these shots that show a persons true and natural beauty, their true feelings, catching memories people will remember and enjoy forever.
I am a professional photographer, based in Warrington who is available for weddings, engagement photos, pre-wedding shoots, portrait sessions and private commissions.
Having recently been married myself, I understand the importance of capturing the day, as a bride or groom the day goes so fast, leaving you to rely on your photographer to capture the things you do and see, as well as the things you miss.
I have been interested in photography ever since I have was given my first film camera, which was my Grandad's, at the age of about 11.
Now in my 30's, I find inspiration for my work coming from photographing people, weddings, urban and street photography and architecture, particularly at night.

I was delighted to win 3 out of 4 catagories of a recent photographic competition I entered. You can see some of my winning entries on the home page slideshow. The competition was voted for by fellow professional photographers and so as you can imagine, I had a huge smile on my face when the results were announced!

II am continuing to offer a free outdoor engagement photoshoot to all couples when enquiring about their wedding photography with Richard Mather Photography. This promotion has been a huge success and I now have only limited availability for weddings in some of the peak months of 2010.

I have added the engagement photo shoot from my time with Lisa and Ciaran at Dunham Massey. It was a great day, lovely light and we just managed to get all the shots before the rain started!
